Irrium

Irrium is a metal created at the moment of a star going supernova. In the nanoseconds of its, collapse, the star manages to pull additional mass from the discrete layers beyond null layer; and, at the explosion, fling it all out. The Rortron particles combine with carbon to create the element known as Irrium

Irrium is a highly sought after element. Its liquid properties and eerie purple appearance make it very beautiful. The fact that it creates equally pretty compounds with other elements only increases its perceived value.

All this has contributed to it becoming, outside of core Concert space, a universal form of currency, with a world specific to minting the pieces used for commerce.

Selatshi Irrium Bank

Selashi Irrium Bank (SIB) was established over three centuries ago upon the discovery of plentiful and pure Irrium deposits in the Kuiper belt of the Selatshol system.

Famous for their high-quality minting of Irrium currency, the SIB also has an infamous open secret of hiring mercenaries against anyone that dares tarnish the SIB's name through counterfeits.

The SIB is known to house the largest deposits of irrium in known space in its catacomb-like structures underground.

Irrium Currency

Irrium is contained within metallic casing or alloys containing irrium to create the unit of currency of suitable irrium content.
